Deadlocked: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel

Deadlocked

Expected publication: May 1st 2012
Author: Charlaine Harris

With Felipe de Castro, the Vampire King of Louisiana (and Arkansas and Nevada), in town, it’s the worst possible time for a body to show up in Eric Northman’s front yard—especially the body of a woman whose blood he just drank. Now, it’s up to Sookie and Bill, the official Area Five investigator, to solve the murder.

Sookie thinks that, at least this time, the dead girl’s fate has nothing to do with her. But she is wrong. She has an enemy, one far more devious than she would ever suspect, who’s out to make Sookie’s world come crashing down.

I can't wait for Deadlocked to be released. It's the 12th book in the Sookie Stackhouse Series. What will become of Eric and Sookie's relationship? *sigh*

Fabulous Cover Art

Have you noticed how many books have great cover art? And the excellent covers aren't just on books published by the "Big Six".

Yes. I'm talking about the indie authors. Their book covers are getting better and better. Don't get me wrong. I still see a lot of cover art that could use some serious revamping, but I think that many indies are beginning to realize the importance of book covers.

Caroline Hanson's Valerie Dearborn Series is a prime example of great cover art (I'm seriously hooked on the series and can't wait for the next book to release).

Typically, when I'm browsing titles and notice a shoddy cover, I will pass about 70% of the time. It only stands to reason that if the author didn't spend the time to get the cover right, he or she probably didn't carefully edit the interior.

What do you think? How important is a book's cover and does it impact your decision to buy it?

Welcome to Book Gurl's Blog

I love to read and write about books! My favs are YA fantasy, paranormal romance, romance (pretty much anything), urban fantasy, sometimes erotica (if it's written well). Pretty much if I swoon over it, I'll write about it. My first post will be coming soon, so come back and visit.

Most likely my posts will be reviews and bookspotlights. And if I'm lucky, author interviews (squee!).  Thanks for stopping by and PLEASE follow.
